Mission Match anExpense®

What does the Bible say?

The Bible has a lot to say about our attitude toward our possessions and money. Some people estimate that the topic is the second-most-talked about in the whole Bible, after idolatry. And since Ephesians 5:5 and Colossians 3:5 equate greed with idolatry, we can assume that it is an important topic!

So if MissionMATCHanExpense helps us to explore our attitudes toward the issue, then it is helping us in an important area.

Of course, as Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8 and Ephesians 2:8-10 make clear, we are saved for a purpose.

Consider these verses as well:
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. 1 Cor. 4:20 (NIV)

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. I Tim. 6:18-19 (NIV)

But just as you excel in everything-in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us-see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)

...set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. I Corinthians 4:12 b (NIV)

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these . . . " -Jesus Christ John 14:12 (NIV)
