How do you MissionMATCHanExpense?
Your small group decides to do the project together.
The idea is to match a regular expense to become more aware of what we have and others do not. What you match may be what is really an unnecessary expense. For instance, you could match the money you spend on movies, sports events, coffee (although that might be necessary to some!), or concerts.
On the other hand, you could match necessary costs such as a water bill or grocery bill, as you think about those who do not have clean water or enough food.
Either way, your small group will realize how much God has blessed us and how much we have to give to those in need.
When you have raised the money:
- Send the money to: MissionMATCHanExpense, empty tomb, inc., P.O. Box 2404, Champaign, IL 61825-2404. Please include what expense you matched, and what discussions your small group had during the process. We want to put comments on this site! Your contribution is tax deductible, so please include your contact information so we can send a receipt.
- Contact your own church, or your home church if you are away from home, and encourage them to apply for Mission Match funds. An application is available at http://www.emptytomb.org/mission/index.php. If they don't immediately know what mission is worthy enough for them to expand their present mission spending, be prepared with ideas.
- Do you know of someone who wants to go to the mission field and has to raise money?
- Do you know someone who is from an area of the world where there is evangelism and physical need?
- Do you know whether one of the missionaries your congregation presently supports has a special project or need that would challenge your congregation?
Mission Match exists to challenge Christians in the U.S. to fulfill more of our potential for loving a hurting world in Jesus' name.
